More stuff I never knew about Elvis! Had no idea he ever had a jones for Simon. Do we know if Paul has/had anything resembling a tolerance for Elvis, at all? To the point of ever covering any of HIS songs?
If no one else has noticed it, I'm beginning to deduce that EC has become one of our greatest musician/musicologists, with the desire and ability to exhibit his love and appreciation for the work of those who have come before (and even his contemporaries)! I mean, his adoration for his wife has to be, in some part at least, due to his infatuation with her musical gifts.
Thanks, as always, Matt, for challenging me with the music and musings of the only living Elvis...and, for making it fun, to boot!🤩
One beautiful thing about Elvis' covers (such as Simon's "Congratulations" or The Beatles' "Hide Your Love Away") is how the songs instantly and irrevocably sound as if they were written by Elvis all along, illuminating a seamless connection between the artists' vocabulary and idiom.

These are incredible, thank you.
