It’s his worst album cover, that’s for sure - at least before ‘The Crayola Years’ began. But otherwise I love it and can happily listen anytime. Does it gel or singe like the many others - no. But it isn’t weak or uninteresting for even a second.
I always felt that "Home Truth" was somehow an outtake from the Imperial Bedroom sessions. It feels like it could have fit on that album quite well. And it's gratefully not ruined by the thin production, cheesy saxophone or synthesized strings that mar so many other songs on GCW. Though I freaking love the music video for "I Wanna Be Loved." That song definitely deserves the Fatal Mailing List treatment. (Or maybe you already have?)
